Altered common
“The parafictional mobilizes two contradictory assumptions in traditional understandings of aesthetic: that art reveals truth, and that art is a space apart from reality.”
–Carrie Lambert-Beatty
ALTERED COMMON is comprised of ornamental structures—built to create whimsy and tension in rooms full of architecture. The collection draws on the idea of follies, a leap beyond the practical, each piece uses and mis-uses materials, shifts conventional scales, and re-thinks common functionality. The ’19 collection is an invitation to reconsider day to day object interactions.
